Bring Your Own Big Wheel On Sunday we hopped over the Bay Bridge to check out (along with, apparently, the entire San Francisco blogosphere) the Bring Your Own Big Wheel event. What is it? A "big wheel" race down Lombard street!

There was not nearly as much carnage as we had expected (hoped?) but it was still hilarious. Also, remarkably, I didn't see a single cop. I think they were all on duty patrolling the "have your picture taken with mr. and mrs. bunny" street fair a couple blocks away. But by the power of the internet the event's been magnified so much that it probably won't be held at Lombard Street again. Amazingly the damage to Lombard Street landscaping was only $300!

I didn't bother taking many pictures, 'cause I knew there'd be tons on flickr and youtube.

Afterwards Kenny, Bree, and I enjoyed pizza and beers, sitting outside along the street (watching errant bigwheels piloted by 25 yearolds roll down the street) at "ZA" Pizza just around the corner at Green and Hyde streets. Yet again [livejournal.com profile] evan and I failed to meet up; apparently neither of us had appropriate locator beacons/contact info.

[livejournal.com profile] kennyjensen also took us to the Shipyard, a Burning Man art construction encampment housed in a stack of shipping containers near Urban Ore in Berkeley.
