Kenny (kennyjensen) took us out to some docks on the Alameda to show us his boat and to show us this contraption. "It's a self-propelled hydrofoil that you sort of hop on through the water—you just have to see it to understand!" He'd explained. And you really do have to see this thing to believe it. So here's a video. A four-second video because that's all my digital camera will give me right now (here's a still shot if you can't see the video):

The thing is kept "afloat" (aloft?) by a hydrofoil (underwater wing), and apparently the pumping motion keeps it moving forwards.
