So I was looking at it again last night, and I think that the submarine should stay, but the cross-sectional view of the water should go. Just have a periscope sticking out of the water. Maybe have some hazy fish-shaped shadows. The cross-section is inconsistent with the perspective, and breaks the illusion. Should get rid of Fiat Pax for the same reason. Or maybe redo it, "grafitti" style, so that it looks like someone leaned over the bridge and scrawled it.

Dear Tobin,
first, I cannot hide my astonishment that you are using my drawing! I would have never imagined anybody would like it so much, I nearly forgot about it myself.

Second, there are two main things which I think should be changed (I hope my English would be good enough to explain ... with a pen it would be much easier :)

- the line on the right should come down a bit more, otherwise the channel becomes far too large and the location in Venice disappears - the channels in Venice are not wider than a narrow road;

- and even more important - there are no paddles in Venice boats!
if you want your picture to represent Venice you must get read of them!!!
You have to have a man standing on the boat with that long - whatever the name of that thing is :)

Regarding your two modern additions, I think it's very imaginative and ingenious :)

Best of luck and I'm looking forward to see it finished!
Miruna

I don't think the cutaway view of the wavy surface ruins the perspective. And the artist is right in her two criticisms. Can't wait to see it when it's finished.
