CATS is a new high-speed ferry between Rochester, NY and Toronto, ON that will go into service next month. A one-way crossing takes 2.25 hours and costs $28. By comparison, the same trip via Greyhound takes between 4.3 and 6 hours and costs $41.
They just a few days ago announced that all the Western European countries that were going to be exempted no longer will be. So I assume it's the same as anyone else. Though the no-visa requirement is still around I think.
Starting this fall (September, I think) visitors from countries on the Visa Waiver list (mostly western European countries plus a few other "civilized" countries like Australia) will have their fingerprints and photos taken unless we get a passport with biometric data implanted (no country issues such passports). We don't need a tourist visa for stays up to 90 days, which saves me about $200 (visa cost plus trip to the embassy in Stockholm). I currently have six U.S. entry stamps in my passport, and it was issued in 2001. No wonder they're getting suspicious :)
