Stories from Sweden

Day two, life of luxury. I think my life of luxury requires sunshine. It's dreary outside which made it hard to get up early (i.e., I didn't), and doing so is one tenet in the life of luxury. Okay, sunshine or a legitimate café and a good book. But as you know, Wall Berlin closed, so the global café outlook is rather dim.
Checking my mailbox. Surprised to see a large, obviously well-traveled manilla envelope. Large ``OAKLAND CA'' circular postmarks. Addressed in sharpie. From Grizzly Peak, Berkeley. My heart lept, and inside I exclaimed, ``Tyson!''
I was right. Eagerly opening the envelope I discovered a copy of his zine (Sometimes) and a little note. Receiving a handwritten letter and a thoughtful gift from someone I've never met is kind of unusual, but nice. Actually it's kind of unusual to receive a handwritten letter or a thoughtful gift at all. Anyway, I guess Tyson isn't really a complete stranger; I knew him originally through his columns in the Daily Cal, and he heard of me via Jessica. Opening Sometimes, my eyes fell at once on the title, ``Svenska Stories'' -- My own work in progress is titled, "Swedish Stories." Actually I think it will be ``Stories from Sweden.''
I don't know what it is about this, but it makes me want to cry. Maybe because I'm leaving Sweden, but that's not all. Maybe I should save this for the airplane out of here.
