I'm getting kind of restless, starting to think more and more about what I'll do after I'm done here, next year. Not in any kind of concrete sense, but in the restless sort of daydreaming way. Next year, next year. I'm not actually any closer to graduation in any real sense, mind you, but I feel the gears in my mind turning, setting up for departure.

Ryan's talking about Oakland. When I first heard this, I thought I was over the bay area. But the more it rests in my mind, the more perfect it seems. The more the East Bay sounds like home. The cool weather, wearing hoodies, drinking good coffee, the bad smelling bart trains, all the good food, the spectacular view of the bay, being near UC Berkeley and being connected again to the real world.

San Diego also sounds appealing. Not the horrible sprawling North County, but the bikeable, diverse, funny old neighborhoods around North Park, Hillcrest, Normal Heights. The ocean and UCSD.

NIBOT!

So yes. My unsolicited views on both places. Perhaps I've said all this before, but hey.

I'm presently living in Berkeley right now, as we speak. The Bay area is very different from what it once was, Nibot. Like Kellog's CornFlakes, You'll taste it again, for the first time. While the skyline is familiar, and the shops and stuff are more or less the same, so many of the people are gone, which really is just an opportunity to make new friends and put down the roots you'd like to put down. It's like having all the amenities of home, with the excitement of travel.

As to San Diego: I only lived there a year, last year. I was down in the Pacific Beach (PB)/Crown Point area, which was amazing. A bit fratty, kind of, but within walking distance of the beach. There's nothing quite like taking a swim in the ocean during your lunchbreak, you know? And the eye-candy, soooo hot. While our tastes may differ, I believe you'd be pleased. Also, ridiculously cheap and tasty Mexican food. I was exceptionally active down there, as people tend to do a bunch of things... there aren't that many bookstores, though, so that's sad. Yo In-and-out, I'm gonna let you finish, but Rocko's makes the BEST BURGER, OF ALL TIME! OF ALL TIME!

YAY AREA.
