I always think I hate A Prairie Home Companion, and yet when I accidentally tune in, I listen to the whole thing.

I think it is probably because I grew up in rural Minnesota and all of it feels like home to me.

I agree that if you grew up in the upper Midwest, it's a very comforting and nostalgia-inducing to listen to. I download the News from Lake Wobegon podcast every week. The rest of PHC is not that entertaining to me.

Well, at first it's entertaining.
Then Garrison Keilor gets to be annoying.
But in the end, all the Norwegian jokes crack me up too much. Now if you didn't have that connection, you'd probably just think he was off his rocker in a totally non-pertinent way.
And it always strikes me a little funny that he sings in the songs HIMSELF.
