5.6 earthquake in the SF Bay Area. Sent our optics swinging here in Pasadena.

I just felt it in San Francisco! Two shakes, about a second apart from each other. It was the first quake in years that actually felt a bit threatening (I'm hardened because I lived in Northridge during the Northridge quake…).

Felt it in Berkeley. It shook for a while. Scared my downstairs neighbor, who's a recent transplant from Florida.

Damn it, we were in the car and didn't feel it. Bummer. Bunch of my students did, though.

I got a nice shake in Mountain View for about 3 seconds. Floors and walls were shaking, but nothing fell anywhere.
