We were at the USC/UCLA grad student conference together, and both have philosophy blogs where we mentioned it, so we e-mailed a bit before hand. And when I got there he mentioned that he knew you - I think he said he saw the link to your page from my homepage (http://ocf.berkeley.edu/~easwaran)
Another one liking the beard. Is wearing a t-shirt when everyone else is clearly bundled up a bit of CA rebellion, or you just ran outside for the shot?
A friend of mine from HS went to Notre Dame, and when he left, he pledged to wear shorts once a week, year-round, to keep up the CA spirit. He did do it, but apparently got some weird looks wearing shorts in Indiana winters. Ugh.
That's pretty chilly. It gets down to the high 20s/low 30s here in the winter evenings/mornings, but it generally warms up to 40s/50s during the day.
you know what my first impression was? how neat that kids of today can relate without being all bent about things that were anathema just 40+ years ago. so...color me weird, but i thought the mindset was cool.
