Bree bought an electric violin!

I'd like to make an amp for it. I found the Cooperative Tube Guitar Amp Project that looks pretty nifty (and has "cooperative" in the name, which is just so apropos), but I was thinking something much simpler, and transistor-based.

This so reminds me of when i first read at Montage '93 and in Leonardo (http://mitpress2.mit.edu/e-journals/Leonardo/) and Wired (http://wired.com/wired/archive/1.05/binary.beat_pr.html) about Tod Machover playing an optical fiber violin. I have not seen much of it since, and doubt the project solved any new problem, but having an optics background, i found it neat.

I've designed and built amps before, mostly solid state, but I've dabbled in tubes a bit, let me know if you want any help or anything.
