Dear Suzanne Angioli,
Thank you for considering my petition for simultaneous degree (EECS-Math). As you recall, you wrote that my petition would be denied because I would not be able to meet my senior residency requirement. I would like to ask whether I would be able to petition to have the senior residency requirement waived, and whether this might be succesful. As I have completed all but 1 or 2 (tbd) of the required courses for the major and L&S requirements and can take the remainder through Extension, I do not understand the consequence of the residency requirement. Since I have already taken most of these courses on campus at UC Berkeley as a regularly enrolled UC Berkeley student, the requirement that I have been considered an "L&S student" while doing so seems like a technicalty which should not prevent fulfillment of the requirements of the B.A. degree. I'd really like to "officially" finish the Math degree, since I have practically done so already. If it would be helpful, I would gladly meet with you to discuss the matter.
thank you,
Tobin Fricke

Hi,
The Dean would never waive the senior residency requirement.

Tobin,
Forgot to say, we don't meet with non L&S students. If you wish to appeal our decision, you must put your request in writing and I will forward it to the dean.
Suzanne
