adventures: upstate?

I'm looking for somewhere neat for an overnight trip, for tomorrow, in upstate new york, or maybe points south, possibly even in northern PA. Anyone know of any neat hostels, maybe low-key b&b's, anything neat to see? [I wish this state had hot springs.]

Date: 2006-01-21 08:14 am (UTC)I've been browsing http://www.hostelz.com/ for the last house+. It seems to be a pretty good directory, less annoyingly flashy than some of the other "hostel directory" websites (such as the one by the same name but with an "s" instead of a "z" that seems pretty annoying). There seem to be lots of farm stay opportunities around, especially in PA. Though I haven't yet found any with a hot tub. (-:
I did broaden by hot tubs search from just the classifies in the local Rochester paper to include also the classifies in Syracuse in Buffalo. There are a number of prospects advertised in the Buffalo News that I'm going to inquire about in the morning.

Date: 2006-01-21 08:19 am (UTC)Pretty upscale ($25) for a hostel, but looks like it could be a fun weekend trip. Though going with 2+ people makes hotels/b&b's more affordable (where you're paying per room compared to hostels where you pay per person).
