Back in Berkeley, and I feel a bit icky about it. The house is a mess and my re-arrival here feels premature. There are ten days until classes start and I feel like I should be exploiting my Last School Vacation Ever for some adventurous undertaking but instead I will begin working at LBL. Oh yes, and I have jury duty the week after classes start. Blah. Anyway, I think things will improve as I actually get established in my new room with Jason and Jamie.

This afternoon's amusement was to picked up a copy of Wheelock's Latin at Ned's today. At $15 I couldn't resist, and Ned's is basically a lending library until the end of the month... Anyway, it looks fabulous.

I hope the house spontaneously cleans itself up between now and tomorrow night when I arrive! I think I will probably spend Monday and Tuesday nights down at Stanfurd though, mainly because there's likely to be more going on there, and I won't have as much free time to visit them once classes start again.

We probably should have some sort of vacation contingency plan, or martial law, or something that encourages people to clean up over breaks. (Or at least, not make a mess of themselves.)

Is there food available?

I think it's funny that you mentioned martial law, 'cause that's exactly what I was thinking. Dawn's been doing a great job enforcing Martial Law, and someone (Jason?) put up the "The Politics of the Failure of Dishwashing have Failed" manifesto which has worked excellently. It requires that individuals rinse their dishes immediately and place them into the dish trays, which can then be directly sanitized once they become full. There are actually dishes available! There's no food, and the downstairs is pretty cluttered. Haley tells me it's generally much better than past winter breaks! I think Dawn is organising a cleanup extravaganza this weekend. There's not much food available, but there is some left over. For instance, the Bulgarian Buttermilk. (-:
