the lebkuchen experiment

I TRIED making Lebkuchen this evening using this recipe. Unfortunately the dough turned out to be incredibly sticky, so we couldn't use cookiecutters. And then, when cooked, they spread out into flat cookies instead of puffing up into bread-like cookies. I didn't know what "Golden Syrup" is, so I used half molassas and half honey. The results are still pretty interesting (although the recipe only made 16 instead of the promised 80, ehhhhem) but definitely more research is needed in the fabrication of lebkuchen.
I wanted to have something for Lucia tomorrow morning, but it doesn't seem to be working out. )-: I did also make pepperkaka dough, which I think has a higher probability of coming out well. and I wanted to make kanelbullar but I don't think I'll have the energy.
