Date: 2005-03-29 05:55 am (UTC)But then I realized the reality of the situation, it's really too bad there isn't a holographic version of aminaked.com. I have seen some holograms made of living (semi-clothed) women using pulsed lasers. It was strange because even at that speed there are some distortions due to skin vibrations/breathing...they show up in interesting places, which the photographer attributed to chakras.
I would assume if one used femtosecond lasers...or perhaps even a picosecond laser one could capture animate objects holographically. They still wouldn't exhibit movement or interactive capabilities like what I'm assuming you're wishing for. Then we'd need AI and holographic projection. Soon...I've read some good articles on computer generated holograms...give it a couple of years and we'll have graphics cards that can produce accurate diffraction patterns in real time. The resolution of LCDs may prove to be a limiting factor...one might need to use a crystal display whose diffraction capabilities is controlled by some sort of phonon generator.
