This house needs a name. What should we name it?

  • If we were soul-less copycats, we'd call it Fort Awesome.

  • someone suggested "wallabee"

  • "43 westview" is the street address (boring)

  • if we found something with the initials "CZ" I could use one of my neon signs here!

  • I want to name a house after Buckminster Fuller (BuckyHouse?) and/or to name one "Ant Farm II" (after Ant Farm, duh), but not this one.

  • ...

I want to get a big California flag to hang out front. Oh, sure, Micah and Vijay would protest, but we Californians have a plurality here! I see lots of polyester flags on ebay, but it seems that canvas is more proper.

I suppose this is the most imperalist thing for me to say, but... It's for their own good!

Yes, definitely use the initials CZ!
(Obviously, the C will have to be for Casa, to reinforce the Californi-istic Imperialist trend.) (And, just as obviously, (Brano would never forgive you) Czech (CZ) is out.)

Now to think of an alternate word with a Z. Sorry, my Spanish is WAY too limited to help you out.

But, I will think on this..... Let me get out the 48 pound dictionary and turn to the z'zzz.

1st thought: Casa Zima -- Cold House or Winter House
Zima means cold in Slovakian

first find in the dictionary : zingaro : Italian for gypsy.

There's a lot of truth in that one.

I nominate making the Z word "zamboni" -- then you all have to make good on your title and drive around the ice-covered streets in them.

OK, you'll probably accuse me of overzealousness, but here is the best of the Z section:
Zapapta: Mexican revolutionary and agraian reformer
Zeeman : Dutch physicist, Nobe prize, 1902 (Pieter)
Zernike: Dutch physicist, Nobel 1953
Zermelo: German mathematician

Two of some questionable significance:
zwiterion: an ion that can go either + or -
zygote: hmmmmm

and my vote goes for:
Zaddikim: (Hebrew) person of outstanding virtue and piety.

Casa Zsa Zsa!

I have a big CA flag that you can have. Bought it on ebay. It doesn't make sense why someone wouldn't want a CA flag on their house. Are they terrorists? Where is their patriotism?

Casa Zenith
Casa Zilch
Casa Zero
Casa Z++

Casa Cachaca There's no z but cachaca is pronounced cashasa and is the Brasilian national firewater. And it sounds good...

I was trying to come up with some witty hebrew or arabic-slang name...

Bet (home) Wallah (something arabic)
or...
Bet Mishmish (apricot)
Bet Koomkoom (kettle)
or, Roch House? It is Rochester after all.

Roach Coach?

I'm for something more festive - Cajun house, Casa Fiesta, Bet Hula.

What is that Israeli word Tobin says they use over there (Israel) for everything, which means "big mess" or confusion?

Well, in hebrew I suppose it would be bah-lah-gahn (funetically). Otherwise, there's plenty of other options. Interesting - eskimos have 40 words for snow, and israelis have a buncha words for "big mess"

Somehow this reminds me to mention that I grew up with a strange understanding for the word "Fiasco." That's what my dad always called a family reunion, specifically the Thanksgiving dinner involving 120 relatives.

It could be said that anytime I was in the company of >12 Ransoms/Frickes something always turned into a bit of a fiasco. I suppose that includes all T-givings and X-mas gatherings at tweedy/Davis. Although, generally the Davis Xmas things weren't as fiascoish as the T-givings.

Not to say that fiascos aren't fun and character-building
