Hospital workers here are striking because the hospital cancelled their health insurance.

hospitals are bizarre. my gf is a nurse and they have the strictest sick policy. She can only have 5 sick days in a rotating 12 month cycle, even if she gets sick from the hospital.

i just don't get it. YOu would think of all institutions that hospitals would take the best care of their workers, with respect to healthcare/

My mom has worked for Kaiser for 28 years--they have kick-ass health coverage. Strange that other hospitals should have it so shitty.

One of the (many) things that always got my goat when Bush was speaking was his insistence that our health coverage in America would DECLINE if it were made available to everyone, a la government regulation.

Health care coverage pretty much declines whenever it's denied to you. So far, only the little people at the bottom are experiencing that. But as it becomes more expensive, more and more people will involuntarily join that club.

Unfortunately, most of the people who agree with Bush will be among the very last to lose their coverage; they'll just keep paying for their own anyway.
