Want to see the film Going Upriver about John Kerry and the Vietnam Veterans Against The War? Of course you can see it in the cinema, but if you don't want to pay for a theater ticket, you can attend a screening party somewhere in your neighborhood, which you can find via the web site http://www.keepitgoing.org/ . You can also buy the DVD and host a screening. Seems like a fun thing to do...

It seems the only showing in the Rochester area was cancelled :-(

that's too bad...

I think it's playing at that theatre across from Highland Diner, however, for cheap too ($3?).

Also, if you get FSTV (FreeSpeech TV--don't know if it's on all cable stations, I get it as one of my basic 30 channels on DishNetwork) they're airing a documentary about "Going Upriver" as well as "Stolen Honor" (the one that the Sinclair stations are going to air.) It's a really interesting documentary--I was up until 1 this morning watching it, but it's going to play several times this week.

Incidentally, I was really impressed by "Going Upriver" and the clips of Kerry's testimony in front of the Senate committee, as well as his organization of the veterans' protest group. Interesting to note, though--he seems to have lost the "Thurston Howell the 3rd" accent he had in the Senate hearing.

Good stuff--I've gotta find a place that's playing the whole film.

seriously? what happened? If he could speak like he did then, he'd be elected in a heartbeat.

well, maybe it's good that he doesn't. if he unleashed his antiwar fervor on the present electorate, it might turn some away. )-:

I don't know what happened, but I'll tell you, I've never heard Kerry speak as eloquently as he did in that hearing (the clips I saw, anyway.) *I* wanted to applaud at the end, and it was only a flickering TV at 1:AM. Accent aside (and I found the accent a bit distracting, maybe because I'm not used to hearing it) I really felt a bit of Kerry-love to a guy I've been more or less ambivalent towards since the primaries (yeah, I'm supporting him, but that's only because Dean and Sharpton would never in a million years get elected.)

The documentary/show/whatever was called "The Forbidden Films of John Kerry". They're doing one later this week called "The Forbidden Films of George W. Bush".

The web site for the channel is http://www.freespeech.org/fsitv/fscm2/genx.php?name=home

WHOOPS!! That's a great channel too, but it's actually on LinkTV (also one of my DishNet freebies.)

Here's the link to LinkTV's site:

Here's info on the "Forbidden Films" program on Kerry:

And on Dubya:

(Yeah, I've heard of HTML. Too lazy.)
