I'm pretty sure we did all these same problems in Physics 137 four years ago. Why does it take so long to do them again? I distinctly remember helping [livejournal.com profile] roxymartini with this particular question last year. I feel dumb now.

They tell us that our classes are taught out of Jackson (e&m), and Sakurai (quantum). But really everything is from Griffiths and Griffiths. S-:

My plan is to learn quantum computing and second quantization from lecture notes from courses at berkeley, and i'd also like to read Baez's stuff.. but who has the time?

p.s. road trip! where should we go? You have until 11am EDT to answer! Oddly I have visions of lugano.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Motorcycle Diaries at the little sometime next week. It's about Ché Guevara and Alberto Granado; Che is the prototypical revolutionary, but I'm completely ignorant of who he was or what he did. (Mostly I'm just looking for a good roadtrip movie. :-) Also maybe seeing "A Mouthful of Birds" which the theatre department is putting on (I know nothing about it).

i only just learned the distinction between jackson and griffiths a couple of weeks ago. my advisor would like me to take the griffiths version next year, but it turns out jackson counts toward my Ph.D. too. so jackson it is!

I'm no expert on where to travel, but Letchworth is a pleasant Nature trip. It's a deep gorge with a river and ...Nature. There are wineries somewhere near the Finger Lakes.

Note: I was eating a Trader Joe's "Apple Blossom" this morning and came upon a huge pecan in my second to last bite . I got up to check the labeling on the box and found no reference to nuts other than "processed in a plant that also processes tree nuts." So I guess we'll have to take that warning more seriously now.

I'm going to send them a nasty letter. --Though I guess finding a huge nut is better than unknowingly ingesting microscopic particles.

Our classes are Jackson and Cohen-Tannoudji (quantum), but we try to make them Griffiths and Griffiths as much as possible. They aren't really though, we just wish they were.
