garagesaleing with ryan. we set out in the morning on a pre-programmed tour of area garage sales. the first one looked like slim pickings from the street, but then it turned out that it continued on in from the yard to the garage, down the hall, and into the basement, where everything was neatly arranged and with little green price tags. including the pharmaceuticals in the drug cabinet. loot from a morning of garagesaleing: book case ($5), moving-message LED sign ($0), chili pepper christmas lights ($2 priceless). then: breakfast at mt. hope diner. banana pancakes.. mmmmmm .. berkeley programming contest. kim's birthday celebration. stealing chinese food from [livejournal.com profile] four and vijay....

i intend to write about programming problems, physics problems, complex analysis, and led sign hacking at [livejournal.com profile] nibot_lab in the nearish future.

Today at De Nault's I saw something else good for your basement: a four foot fake palm tree constructed of fake pine fronds and something brownish for the trunk, covered of course with mini christmas lights.

OR you could get the casino style palm tree: either four or 6 feet tall, plastic with those lights in a plastic tube illuminating all the outside edges.

at $ 49/ea I recommend we wait until the original owner gets sick of them and puts them out on the curb.
