Guanaxhuato
May. 25th, 2005 08:18 pmI forgot to mention that Tara, the French-Irish girl, joined our Chihuahua hitchhiking team in Creel. It was she who arranged the ride with the WWF.
From dusty, hot Chihuahua we (Ryan, Tara, and I) travelled by deluxe Swedish-made bus overnight to Zacatecas, just south of the Tropic of Cancer. An amazing place, with twisty narrow streets flanked by old-world architecture. Like old Europe but in Mexico.
Now we are in Guanaxhuato, which is even more amazing in its twisty alleyways and old architecture. The major streets run through an amazing system of tunnels beneath the city that is simply surreal.
The hostels here are inspiringly beautiful and interesting. I think I am going to try to convince my parents to quit their jobs, sell their house, and start a hostel somewhere.
I'm booked on American Airlines flight 8169 (actually a Mexicana de Aviacion flight) out of Mexico City on Saturday, arriving LAX at 12:55 PDT.
P.S please write to me!
P.P.S. I uploaded a few more pictures to my flickr account (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tobin) including some from Tara.
