Twice in the last week I've had someone assert that "North America" is just the United States and Canada. Most recently this was AAA, saying "Of course AAA works in Canada! It works everywhere in North America!" This omits several rather subtle points (i.e., Greenland). But what about Mexico? I suppose they might be making a distinction between continents and regions (with the latter containing a mysterious "central america"). Still, it annoys me greatly. Get it right: Mexico is part of North America!

Nifty: The aurora I saw yesterday was featured with the astronomy picture of the day from [livejournal.com profile] apod. (Although it wasn't quite that intense from New York as the APOD picture.) Go someplace dark with a view to the north and you might see it too!

Also, it's snowing... so much geophysical/meteorological excitement!
