Oct. 7th, 2004 08:01 pmCAIRO (Reuters) - About 100 people were taken to a hospital in the Egyptian border resort of Taba on Thursday after a huge blast tore through an Egyptian hotel, a hospital source said. The source said the wounded were of different nationalities, but did not have details. A source at the south Sinai health directorate said more than 100 wounded had been taken to three hospitals in Taba, Nueiba and Sharm el-Sheikh after explosions.
Taba is right next to Eilat, at the northern tip of the Red Sea gulf of Aqaba. Oddly enough I once met a nice Swedish girl from Lund at that hotel. Nuweiba is about a quarter of the way down the Egyptian coast on the gulf of Aqaba, and Sharm el-Sheikh is at the southern tip of Sinai.
