Jun. 25th, 2004 12:51 amGah! A mind-numbing day on the Clairemont Mesa. In the morning bicycled 4 miles to the VW, got it towed to the shop, rode 2 miles back to base camp. That was pretty fun. Then working from home got too boring -- John's off in Austin and I think the other roommates have moved out or something -- so I went to the local "coffee shop" which is "coffee bean and tea leaf." You'll notice that their website says something to the effect of them being the largest non-Starbucks Starbucks. great. That, too, was too mind-numbing, so I relocated to Balboa Coin-Op Laundry which, rather oddly and unlike Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, offers free wireless internet. At 09:00 tomorrow I'm supposed to be at the keynote address for MEMOCODE and I'm not altogether sure how I'll get there -- I have an appointment to chat with the guy giving it. Tempting is to bike two miles to Advantage rent-a-car and pick up a car for use this weekend, although I'm not sure whether that will be necessary and probably won't be able to contact the person who might have a car until it's too late for that little plan. Else I could just try the bus (sdcommute.com leaves something to be desired -- such as a functional trip planner). I'm terribly disappointed to not have the Vanagon for this Baja trip that we may or may not be embarking upon tomorrow afternoon. The thought of doing it in a Dodge Neon is somehow vastly less appealing.
