CERN REU (or, "My first FOIA request")
May. 15th, 2004 11:15 amI wrote earlier about my curiosity over the cancellation of the REU at CERN. AT the time I also looked up the relevant grant numbers in the NSF database, and requested copies of the reviews and explanations of the funding decisions. That was nearly a month ago, so I figured my letter had just disappeared into the bureaucratic void. But it turns out they treated my letter as a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and I just received the following response:
( letter from the NSF )
They were able to send me these two reports:
Report from Northeastern University
Report from University of Michigan
Also, they sent instructions on how to appeal a FOIA denial
I hope that wasn't NEU's final report, because it's sort of embarassingly sparse in comparison to the UMich report.
