Engineering Date Auction was a hoot. 155 Dwinelle was packed, full of eager bidders seeking mates. Participating in CSUA "Operation `Bondage'" I swapped clothes with Jeff and arrived in collar, tail, two spiky bracelets, and a plether jacket. (w00t!) Almost as amusing to me was watching Jeff walk off in the sweatshirt I'd been wearing.. is that what I look like? Anyway, the date auction. CSUA was there in full force sellings everything from candy to Cat 5 cat-o-9-tails. Going rate seemed to be $40-$60 for a date, with one girl breaking the bank at more than $200!

Other than that it was a pretty normal day. I enjoyed a hamburger via the ongoing E-Week barbeque (they should do this all semester!), and I ran into Cambria up there on Bechtel terrace. That was nice.. we had a good conversation. It still mystifies me that you can go to class with someone every day, or, in this case, live in the same house as them, but never really "meet" until you happen to randomly encounter each other in an unfamiliar situation. Anyway, it was all good.

It seems to me that with e-week, calday, and the date auction, the engineering school is finally coming together in some kind of community.. now, if only they could keep it up all semester long, instead of an isolated week(end).
