AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm dooooooomed.
Well. My math 185 (complex analyis) final went better than expected. Which is to say, it was the way I hoped it would be -- ridiculously easy. I think I got four of the five questions generally correct (I wish "open disc" were an acceptable synonym for "simply connected domain," hmm); on the fifth I confused Rochë's theorem with the Argument Principle. Oh well. State two theorems, find an holomorphic bijection with holomorphic inverse mapping set A to set B, do a real integral by integrating around a half disc then letting R go to infinity. Even a bumbling fool like me can handle that... And now to figure out Numerical Analysis... a subject to which I have alotted all of 1.5 hours to learn (Situation looks grim). ...
Imagine if I could update my livejournal during an exam. Just think.. that last-minute cramming... the funny observations about my classmates... the thrill of the challenge.. oh, the suspense.. and. oh, oh, the ultimate tragedy! damnit, shouldn't I have read the textbook? oh no, isn't our hero supposed to emerge in triumph, unscathed and victorious? Instead we just hear, from a distance, "I'm not dead! I'm still alive, just... severely burned!" Oh, this really is ridiculous. I'm sorry. -- from kresege engineering library, with love
Well, that was a disaster.
Okay, just to inject some levity, I will tell you something about M185. You might think that the most compelling reason to take Complex Analysis is that you get to carry around a little book that says "notes on complex function theory," and that sounds, well, complex!, thus increasing your popularity, sex appeal, brightening the campus environment, etc etc. But the real reason to take Complex Analysis is that then you'll see the unquestionable hilarity in such jokes as "Did you hear about Cauchy's dog? He left a residue on every pole..". Hahahehe. ugh.
