The test went fine, better than I expected actually. It was kind of strange test, and I answered all of the questions correctly. However on one question (``Find the last decimal digit in 3^(3^71)'') I used the fact ``Odd powers of three are congruent modulo four'' in my answer which I deduced in a page of long division and multiplication rather than any sophisticated way; hopefully they'll accept that. (The answer is 7). There still remains an oral part of the exam where I have to prove theorems on demand (on a blackboard?) which promises to be more difficult.

Dinner with Keith and Paddy was very nice. Actually I went over there for Glogg and then we had soup and biscuits, which was very good.

I just discovered that there is ferry service from Denmark and Norway (Bergen) to Iceland via the Faroe Islands! It's a bit expensive but sounds exciting.
