nibotThe Cardigans were great. They were a little weak at first (and I think the crowd was too), but gradually built up steam, until they finally concluded with a resounding performance of "my favorite game." Their new songs take a bit of getting used to - they have a sort of country-and-western twang, and the lyrics are a bit dark. But anyway, it was a fun show, and nicer in some ways than others I've been to. We ran into Toyoko and her boyfriend, and Emma and her friend Amber, and I met a cool Swedish guy named Magnus. The Swedish guy and I lamented that Kent is able to sing to a crowd of 40,000 in Stockholm, but probably not even 40,000 American have heard of them. We thought Popscene was a bit of an odd venue for such a show, but then we agreed that it was sort of reminiscent of a Nation. I wonder what the Cardigans are doing now? Lonely in some hotel room or on their gigantic bus? They should be sleeping in the living room here!
