Interestingly enough, this isn't quite what the EE department here had to say. But I like it, it's very uplifting - the focus on research. You certainly have that, and if they really don't care much about grades and exams, then you're a shoo-in. Shoe-in? Shue-in? Shoe-inn? Whatever.
