Yesterday my student affairs advisor back at Berkeley checked off the last item on my graduation requirements — transfer credit for EE128 `Feedback Control' based on Lunds Universitet's FRT010 `Automatic Control: Basic Course.' Rob Fearing wrote, ``Based on syllabus and reputation of Lund, I think we can give full 4 units equivalent UD credit.'' Excellent. That's 0.7 more units than originally assigned. So, my diploma is now in the mail!

Right now I am at the test beam, ``on shift'' officially for the first time, with littlepavel and two other people. There is some spare time as it takes about fifteen minutes to accumulate 50,000 pions the way things are configured now. Then we change the beam energy and do it again! You, too, can get that test-beam thrill, from the comfort of your very own home: check out the CERN accelerator status display, and read our electronic log book!

reputation of Lund - I think that is the first time this year that I have heard something good about that school!

Really? LTH is pretty highly regarded, and I think the rest of the school is too.

BTW, see my comments on this post (http://www.livejournal.com/users/inuy/34408.html) re: sexmastare. Maybe you know.

Are you in Sweden at the moment? When do you move to Princeton? I'll be in Sweden in about two weeks.

I am, I am! Skåne is great at the moment. I'm leaving September 4, though, so I guess we won't be here on the same time.
I have plenty of friends in Lund who are/have been sexmästare. I shall ask them promptly. :)
(And Lund has been getting a lot of bad publicity this year thanks to the new language center that completely went out of hand and may never finish now. It's all about money, something LTH has a lot of, and the humanities have never seen.)

I kept reading "test beam" as "best team". Visual spoonerisms...
