Favorite podcast: Die Sendung mit der Maus
Feb. 1st, 2013 07:37 pmMy new favorite (video) podcast is "Die Sendung mit der Maus", the podcast version of a program for children that airs on Sundays on German TV. Not only is it at the perfect level for my comprehension of German language, but it is fun and interesting too. A typical episode explains how something is made or how something works: how balloons are made, or how the heating system in the house works. The first epsiode I watched explained daylight savings time, and then they asked the question "How do the clocks at the train station know to adjust themselves?" And this lead to a field trip to the atomic clock in Frankfurt(!). In most of the episodes, the characters don't speak, but a benevolent narrator provides a voiceover. The characters are all likable and the over-all result is rather soothing.
