We drove together with Dave+Dave from Hannover to Berlin, where D2 couchsurfed for the night and we crashed with [livejournal.com profile] in_alaska at her new place in Neuköln. We woke near dawn to catch the early EasyJet flight from the historic and soon-to-be-replaced Schönefeld airport directly to the island of Mykonos, half-way between the Greek and Turkish mainlands.

Dave+Dave's house turns out to be... rather amazing. Here it is, perched up on a hill in the traditional Cycladic architecture, overlooking the town of Mykonos and the Aegean sea:

Polish couchsurfers

I don't know if it's because my profile has floated to the top of the arbitrarily-ranked search results for couchsurfing hosts in Hannover, or if it was just the arrival of the vacation-month of August, but my quiet couchsurfing account has seen a steady stream of requests since the beginning of the month.

We've hosted three groups of Polish couchsufers in that time, and they've all been lovely. Here pictured is the most recent group, a trio of 20-somethings traveling out from Warsaw by bus, rideshare, and, now, hitchhiking, skipping along on a random and happy "eurotrip".
Olympics 8-9-84

Here's a photo of my parents at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

My dad says: "Mom and I went to see track and field on the second day of the decathlon. The attached photo is a scan of a print that has begun to deteriorate. I think the original is a slide somewhere."
