After three weeks without flying an airplane, I went up today with my instructor. Did I mention that the weather is great? Our first take-off of the day was a practice short-field take-off, where we run-up the engine to full power with the brakes set, and only then release the brakes for maximum acceleration. In the colder air, the airplane just zipped up into the sky.
We are doing "checkride prep" now. The next big thing is just to call the FAA examiner and take the practical test. It is a little bit scary, and it does cost $400, so I will be sure to get plenty of practice with my instructor before the real thing. I'm hoping to do the checkride in early December, assuming I can get enough practice this month.
(I am kind of running out of money, but that's what 0% APR credit cards are for, right?)
