Oct. 25th, 2009 03:12 amI really like this bed in this room. You wouldn't think it would be so comfortable, but it's just right. Just big enough for one person, made of of some pallets from Deutsche Bahn followed by a layer of cardboard and then some soft blankets. Ryah and Lisza are up on a high bed raised near the ceiling.
I think we're all feeling a bit sickish, but I kind of like it, the feverishness adding to the surreality of travel. I don't know if I'll be quite ready to head back home next week. Being away is therapeutic in a sort of Murakami-esque way. What sounds appealing is to travel up to the far north and spend a month in the middle of Sweden, in a red house in the middle of a pristine white snowfield, to spin a cocoon and write my thesis.
This evening at a party we played telephone-I reliably corrupted every (deutsche) phrase. The room featured more plants than kvatratmeters.
I am also looking forward to spending thanksgiving at the Tweedy cabin.
Also, Matthias and Ryah say that taking the train from New Orleans to Chicago was actually really great and very comfortable, and in particular the ride out of New Orleans through the swamps is very scenic. Perhaps a couple-days trip to Memphis or St Louis and back is in order?
