rendezvous = success

Sunrise on the Columbia River. May 31, 2006 (yesterday) 05:36 PDT.

The rendezvous went off without a hitch, arriving simultaneously at SFO. I thought for sure something would go amiss, with four flights and a 200 mile drive involved, but I saw the sun rise over the Columbia River and got to PDX even a little early, flew to San Francisco, and there was Bree, all smiles. It might have helped that the rental car's spedometer died; I got out the GPS and saw that what I thought a comfortable 70 MPH was really around 90. The bay area is, of course, glorious. We stopped in Chinatown for lunch, then espresso outside in the sun at Cafe Trieste, and beer ($1 pints at happy hour!) outside in the sun at SF brewing company. Today the botanical garden (photo), giant salad and sandwich at Intermezzo (photo), wanders along the berkeley paths and through co-ops. Maybe Mt. Tam / Albany Bulb tomorrow? On Saturday I think we'll head out on the train towards Yosemite.
