Thursgiving
Dec. 9th, 2005 10:50 pmAh, thursgiving, our delicious holiday celebrated on the last thursday of every week. JP and I (by which I mean JP) cooked up seven pizzas loaded with everything from pineapple to jalapeños. Physics kids Sarah and Ben and Kris (
vyncentvega) showed up and there was very much merriment. Beers of Winter were consumed. Guitars and mandolins and violins were played. Ah, thursgiving.
You know that movie, Girl Interrupted? That's grad school. Kind of.
I feel so lucky to have such a good group of people at school as friends. I'm on a hugging basis with all of them. And of course the co-op kids. It's impressive and reassuring to me that you can assemble such good groups of people pretty much by random chance. Random or not, such good people.
I think I'm going to make a video documentary about next year's incoming physics class. I'm not sure what exactly it is about it, but the first semester of grad school (and I've done it twice!) is an epic experience. There's all the tentative schmoozing at the recruitment weekends. Then there's everyone new and eager, but then gradually some people succeed, some have their dreams broken, some fade away...
