Important discoveries
Nov. 21st, 2005 11:38 pm1. Apparently Sam Adams beer, despite being marketed as a Boston phenomenon, and, moreover, being most prevalently available in Boston, Massachusetts, is actually manufacturered in Rochester, New York.
2. Continental Airlines is currently offering highly affordable roundtrip fares of $175 between Rochester, New York (ROC), and Santiago, the Dominican Republic (STI), a republic which currently resides on a carribean island.
In reference to the latter, I present you with a recently-taken photograph of a Dominican Republic beach, which I have lifted from Nadia's blog:

Various Thoughts:
1. Some people complain that Rochester is an (increasingly) abandoned city. I think it should be our skunk works! Imagine if we put the difference in "cost of living" from a "real city" into personal projects instead—it's like infinite funding!
2. Landing in Rochester, you can clearly see the whole downtown, and easily make out the layout of the city, the river, the PLEX neighborhood, the U of R, and all that. Clearly at Ant Hill it is imperative that we build a giant illuminated sign for our rooftop identifying the ANT HILL toarriving airline passengers orbiting spacecraft.
3. Reading on plane = the lovely The Riddle of Gravitation, from the also-lovely Dover publisher. Very readable introduction to relativity, without assuming much knowledge other than the basics of vectors.
4. It is also imperative that we build a disco dancefloor ceiling.
5. I'd thought I'd returned without any souveniers from Boston, but then I found a big piece of chalk in my pocket, that I'd been vandalizing MIT with, scrawling such phrases as "Schrödinger Lied! H Ψ ≠ E Ψ" on various walls (I believe this is accepted behavior).
6. I have decided to rededicate myself to personal projects. Right after Jan 18 (preliminary exam!).
