Nov. 18th, 2005 05:52 pmWinter's arrived in Rochester, and I love it. The early autumn is nice, too--all the brilliant colored trees and the crisp air. But late autumn is kind of a drag, with the pervasive greyness, the early darkness, the rain. Now it is snowing, bright and soft.
I bicycled to school today, through the snow. I stopped at CVS and bought one of those Nestle ice cream sandwhiches, ice cream between two yummy chocolate chip cookies, and ate it as I bicycled to school through the falling snow, a small red dufflebag ("TOBIN" embroidered on it in green) balanced on the handlebars, containing some clothes for my trip to MIT. Travelling with my stuff in this duffel, slung over my shoulder or, in this case, over the handlebars, always seems properly nomadic, properly hobo.
Now I am at the Rochester airport, which, although it offers free wireless internet, bizarrely doesn't offer electrical outlets. So I'm plugged in at an unused gate (A9, if you must know). Hopefully this plane will get us out of here tonight—the weather always wreaks havok with the airlines. I'm really excited about this trip to MIT. In my mailbox this afternoon, Rudy left me a small manilla envelope, suggested Boston adventures written on the outside, Lonely Planet tucked inside. I get to see
