Prayers and Tears
Oct. 20th, 2005 05:50 amWell, somehow that was quite a night. I blame it all on the Chocolate Chai at Boulder Coffee Co, a beverage whose sugar content is surely rated in kilotons. Doug and Bree played at the open mic night there with nearly half of the co-op representing. But then, you see, the Lux is only a block or two from BCC , and one beer turned into several, with a couple shots of tequila thrown in for good measure (Supporting the local economy is my euphamism of choice). (We have this idea to print up little cards that we can give to people to invite them over to the co-op to hang out; most of the interesting people from the open mic night showed up at the Lux so we were able to invite them personally.) I was, I believe, in fine form. Unfortunately we did not utilize the hammock.
One unexpected thrill was to meet
diskothiq, who
hypostatization and I had roadtripped out to Buffalo last night to see. Chopsticks had mentioned that he and crew might be around, and consequently I was keeping a vague eye out for him. So when he reached out and introduced himself, I was caught off guard: "I expected this introduction to go in the other direction!" I was surprised and pleased to be recognized from my livejournal persona. A brief but rousing discussion of co-ops was held with the crew of the Prayers and Tears just before us co-opers departed for our abode on South Plymouth Ave. So, you see, it was good fortune I fell to the Lux's siren song tonight.
And now I am playing the insomniac, sitting in the living room in my underwear, updating livejournal nonsensically at 6:04am.
P.S. This is one of my favorite cartoons, by fellow Rochesterian Nick Gurewitch:

The only modification I would suggest is to replace "meteors" with "Greens functions".
I may or may not be going to Fredonia (an hour southwest of Buffalo, I am told; I didn't know that was the description of any terrestrial place) tonight. I probably shouldn't, but if I were going at noon tomorrow, what's the difference anyway?
Mt. Hope Diner, 9am? Hmm. What was I thinking? Sorry, Jen.
