Stefanos and I moved a small refrigerator into our office today, stopped at the supermarket for some supplies, and put into service our brand new DeLonghi EC140 espresso maker. After a bit of fumbling with the small collection of espresso filters and miscellaneous parts, our cafe operations are now open for business! ($51 in capital expendiatures and $8.30 in consumables.)
Tobin: "I don't want to be seen moving all this stuff into our office... I am in a bit of trouble."
Stefanos: "No, it is a statement."

anticlimax
May. 5th, 2005 10:36 pmThe first year is over now, and I feel no richer for it. I barely noticed its passing, actually, and now that it's done I sort of miss it. I am not quite sure what I should be doing—studying something? Writing some program? Reading something? The beast is behind me now, for the time being, and I'm ready to get out of here. Flee for the hills. Hot tubs, guacamole, et cetera.
Tobin: "You guys finished the exam early."
Kris: "Actually, we gave up."
Matt: (to Kris) "Seeing you give up gave me the courage to give up."
We were promised an end-of-the-first-year gripe session (with the chair) and even that has failed to materialize.
