the daily grind
Apr. 20th, 2005 12:33 amI cycled down to Open Face Cafe today to meet Kelli, a woman who was involved in a co-housing project in the Southwedge here. We had a very good chat, and it was nice sitting out in the warm afternoon at a cafe on a lazy street, with a refreshing salad and bottle of Moxie.
David told me about this awesome site today, http://geo.cityofrochester.net/ .It shows maps of all properties in the city. When you click on them, you can get all kinds of data, such as who owns it, how many square feet, the size of the lot, the zoning, the year built, the numbers of bathrooms and bedrooms, the amount of the water bill, etc. Very neat. Soon this will all be subsumed into something like Google Maps, I assume and I hope.
Where does the day go? I've got to get my act together.
( map of the co-op grounds )
Both of our houses are over 100 years old, by the way. They were built in 1855 and 1900, if city records are to be believed. They total 3804 ft^2 of living space.
Also check out my craigslist ad for the co-op, and our description in the NASCO co-op guide. We'll probably contract Energy Cooperative of New York to be our energy supplier, and Genesee Co-op Federal Credit Union for our banking. It's a co-op universe!
