John graduated today. My parents came down to San Diego for the occassion, and in the morning I took them to Scripps Institute and IGPP to show them my new work. We ate lunch at the Torrey Pines Gliderport (the new coolest thing in the world). Then we all converged on RIMAC field for the graduation - it was me, my parents, john's parents, steve, and mary in the john-cheering section. Afterwards we all gathered at this apt for a reception catered by El Pollo Loco.. There were quite a lot of people here.. lots of significant others and parents and so forth. It was a nice festivity.

It's amazing to me coming back down to southern california and running into these old webs of friends from high school. John's housemate Matt went to high school with us. He's friends with the girl I tutored in ninth grade whose brother was my best buddy then. Matt's dating a girl Tanja who I knew from boy scouts -- twelve years ago. It was fun swapping old tales but also kind of surreal.

I'm enjoying being down here in San Diego, but I miss my co-op.
