Wow, so many LJ comments tonight. Yay! it's nice to hear from all of you! It's like... people out there exist! I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/comments on the note about the election. I found those voting results from this area to be quite impressive re: Green support.

Re: Ibsen, a 19th century Norwegian playwriter, he is considered the father of modern drama. His best known work in these parts is "A Doll's House." We just read "Master Builder" in ScanR5B, so I have the option of writing my due-tomorrow paper on it. In this play the main character "gives up his dreamas of building great monuments and churches with towers reaching to the heavens to build normal houses instead; when he realizes that society doesn't even appreciate this sacrifice he returns to grand structures," and it kills him. Now, Ibsen wrote this late in his life, after a long period in which he gave up writing some of his less conventional stuff, so it seems very much like this is allegorical to his life. But there's some other funky stuff going on, and I don't really know that much about Ibsen, so I decided to save this for my next paper.

Instead I'm writing about "A Living Soul," which I described briefly in a previous journal entry. You can read my short "ideas" paper [jersild.pdf] in which I just explore some themes from that book. Maybe it will be interesting. Maybe not. It's due tomorrow 3pm so I'm not planning on sleeping much tonight. S-:
