Christina left. Weather in Lund. Flowers.

What luck! Try as I might, I simply could not make it to the 08:15 föreläsning of the Radio class. Since Particle Physics class ended I haven't had cause to get up before noon, and so I've been feeling quite well-rested and downright energetic lately. I have to decide whether it's worthwhile to get up for an 8 o'clock class. (ugh!) Anyways, I did make it to the 10:15 lecture of Biomedical Signal Processing, which is all about EEG and EKG, which have been the subject of recent splorg discussions (see: original discussion and project page). I went into the lecture with some doubts about the class (mostly concerning the dubious potential for enjoyment offered by a cryptic discussion of signal processing in a foreign language), but things really got off to a good start. Not only was the lecture being held in English, but as soon as I walked in, the teacher (Leif Sörnmo) thrust a copy of his book (Digital Processing of Electrical Signals from the Brain and the Heart) into my hands along with a copy of the lecture notes, exclaiming, ``Ah, you'll probably be wanting these. Welcome to the class!'' (Later he came back around asking for a hundred crowns... heheh) Then we dove into the cryptic discussion of signal processing, but in English. Our discussion today was not particularly related to electrophysiology per se but various signal statistics; we concluded the lecture with some discussions about Autoregressive (AR) Modeling, which I found quite interesting as that is the technique we were using to detect earthquakes in Alaska.

Miscellaneous: A postal letter from Leigh arrived today, including a few photos from Oslo and various ``sculpture imitation'' photos. I'll of course need to scan them and add them to the pertinent web sites. Hm. We're having a korridor dinner and party on Friday. UC excursion to Louisiana coming up on Saturday (coincidentally Erik Wahlén is going there simultaneously, although he's driving with his family.) Tony may be coming down to Lund this weekend! Stina writes: ``Skriv och berätta någon gång när du ska gå ut så kommer jag kanske dit också och dansar loss.'' Sounds fun.
