amerikanska blåbärspannkakor
Feb. 3rd, 2002 02:00 pmI began the day with a breakfast of "american blueberry pancakes" at Krischansta Nation. I should have known better than to expect real american pancakes, and indeed I was greeted with something else entirely: a purple pancake about an inch thick and maybe 6 in diameter. The amusing thing was that it was served "elegantly", cut in half, with one half sort of propped up on the other, and garnished with a small sprig of rosemary. (In my experience the Swedes are very good with the attractive presentation of food.) Nonetheless it was good food, and I was quite impressed with Nisses Cafe. Also, I couldn't help but notice that the syrup was from Danisco -- perhaps it had been manufactured in Örtofta!
I had sent out an email inviting all seventeen American exchange students to breakfast at Krischansta Nation, and Keith (the director of the program) had even seemed excited (he's never been in a nation!) and said that he'd certainly come. But of course, none of them showed up. It was just me, all by myself. I wasn't really surprised, just a bit disappointed.
