first impressions
Oct. 11th, 2001 09:00 pmI just took an exploratory look at livejournal, having just heard that not just kaolin but even bryce maintains a journal there, so I took a look around at some random journals. But what did I find there at live journal but an incestuous orgy of introspective self-pity, overflowing with petty hopes, mundane dreams, inconsequential projects, and a pervasive wimpering sadness, some kind of vestigial radiation of failure and imagined self importance. My, but I weep for the human condition -- that these inconsequential peeps and herds of shuffling feet and downturned faces is all we have to present to the world. The philosophers of old, great speeches, and stunning engineering marvels -- these make humanity seem a brave and grand endeavor, but here I see something far more humble. The ironic part is that this comment here becomes a part of that whimpering mass, and this comment now adds also to that resounding self-pity of that mass. God, I'm glad I'm rid of it. It's a ghastly comment and I'm glad it's out and gone.
The other funny thing is that my comment to Slashdot regarding ``media self censorship'' was rejected. Hey, Slashdot -- that's probably worse than LJ. Hah.
