We have Swedish class four days a week, but on Fridays the EAP people take us on excursions to various places. This friday (yesterday) we went to Helsingborg to the north west. We went various places (eg, Fredriksdal friluftsmuseum) but ended up in a national park of some kind on a peninsula somewhere.

After consuming a delicious paron glas -- soft vanilla ice cream with a pear-flavored syrup, simply delicious -- I sought out my comrades and we embarked to scope out our surroundings. (Present were Allison, Anna, Ben No.1, Paul, Rose, and me.) We were on the coast, high on some rockly jumble that jumbled on down to the sea, and the top of the jumble was punctuated by a lighthouse. It was very warm, and the sea looked ever more inviting. Eagerly, we made our way over the rocks to the water, and after some scrambling managed to find a miniature fjord to call our own.

First on the scene, I peered into the depths and was astonished to see amidst the swaying forest of sea plants, jellyfishes, jellyfishes hovering and pulsating and irridescent like aliens or ghosts. In almost every little clearing of the sea plants I could see a jellyfish, each maybe eight inches in diameter. It was amazing! I've only seen jellyfishes once before, at the Monterey Bay aquarium, but this was far more exciting, seeing them in the wild, frolicking about as jellyfishes do.

You might think this discovery would have inhibited the realisation of our swimming plans, but we just scrambled over some more rocks and found an even better swimming hole with only one Jellyfish, whereupon we took off our clothes and jumped in.
