Went hiking with Kate and Tomoki in the Deister (the local "mountain"). It was really very nice, walking through the woods on a crisp, sunny autumn day. The German woods are littered with biergartens where you can get schnitzels and gulasch and apfelstrudel and nürnberger bratwurst mit sauerkraut und bratkartoffeln. I brought the little dog, and she enjoyed the day of scampering along the trail - now she is all tuckered out and curled up and sleeping on a blanket at my feet.

Tomorrow a Swedish band called Solander is playing at this cool secret speakeasy-like place that I recently discovered, Feinkost Lampe. Also maybe a trip to the sauna in the morning.

I just love the idea that rambling around on a hill speckled with biergartens constitutes a hike. ;D
