Departure 2.0

I have a plane ticket, I have insurance, I have an International Driver's License, I have an assortment of passports, I have clean teeth, my bags are packed, and I am just about ready to go. Any suggestions for fun things to do or people to visit in Boston or NYC?

Well, if *I* were in NYC, I'd check out a poetry reading... there's a monthly poetry calendar that lists everything going on. Good bookstores: Posman's, The Strand. Good food: Dojo's, Yaffa's. For just hanging out, I love the Upper West Side part of Central Park.

There's a great international bookstore in Cambridge, called Schoenfeld's, or something. You want to check it out.

There are plenty of interesting people to visit in New York and Boston, but you don't know them and probably don't have time. As for things to do - take the Chinatown-Chinatown bus if you don't already have a strategy for getting from one city to the other. It's probably the fastest and cheapest mode of transportation.
